It is the one power that she has, this is what she uses to reject Brodie. Sandy is not attractive, but she can have sex in the attic with the married man. The big crisis of the book is that there is sex with a married man. Men want Brodie, but in the end Sandy sees it as pathetic all men want her, but the one man she wants, she'll never have. Sexuality in the novel (2): Marriage is a life sentence, and it is the end of your youth and joy. Sex is really not that glamorous, however your sexuality shows if you are in your prime or not.
However, Sandy eventually realizes that she is a spinster. Spinsters are laughed at because they are old and virgins, but Brodie is the only non-spinster because she is a virgin, but she does not look that old. When you are young and unmarried, you are in your prime. Rose is known for sex, but she has not even had it. The interest continues though, but the only one who furthers the interest is Sandy. They view sex as a dirty thing and a crime, and that you must commit sex. There is a budding interest of sex in the girls, but it is secretive and ill-informed. Women's Sexuality in the novel: There is no healthy portrayal of sexuality in this novel. The reason that all of this is presented is because it wants to show that what Brodie does is not educational, because in the end, education is only true if you let someone think for themselves. Everything is influential in the development of a child.
